When these billboards are sufficiently large, they can illuminate the vicinity for those nearby, sometimes becoming the sole light source on an entire block. As a result, both drivers and pedestrians traversing the area are likely to notice and read the signage, even if it's unintentional. It's important to note that these billboards contain electrical components, so they must be well-sealed to prevent water ingress after rain, which could cause electrical shorts or blow out the bulbs.
