Square Street Sign Mockup
When planning the installation of a shop sign, one of the initial considerations is determining the optimal mounting height. While the general recommendation for street signs is to position them above eye level, a common question arises: why above eye level, and not directly at it?
Eye level typically falls within the range of 5 to 6 feet, making signs placed at this height vulnerable to accidental damage or tampering. Pedestrians carrying objects or moving items may inadvertently bump into or scratch signs within easy reach.
Therefore, a height of 7 to 10 feet is generally considered ideal. This elevation allows for clear visibility while minimizing the risk of damage and preventing unauthorized access to the signboard itself. Signs mounted above 10 feet may not be as readily noticed as those closer to eye level. When installing signs at such heights, it's crucial to increase their size and incorporate backlighting to ensure visibility from a distance.
