Upon my initial arrival in this fascinating city, I vividly recall facing an immediate and rather perplexing challenge: simply crossing the street. I found myself in a situation where there seemed to be no apparent crosswalk or designated path, forcing me to seek assistance from locals to locate a passageway. I soon discovered that many of these crucial crossings were sophisticated underground tunnels, which, while efficient, required a considerable walk to navigate from one side of a broad thoroughfare to the other.
Despite the dynamic urban environment and the constant movement of people, Baku's streets left an indelible impression of pristine cleanliness. They were remarkably spotless, almost unbelievably so, and I often observed dedicated crews meticulously maintaining them. This unwavering commitment to immaculate public spaces was particularly striking, especially considering that these very same silky-smooth streets transform into the high-speed circuit for a Formula 1 Grand Prix race.
